How do we tend ourselves as we walk alongside others, listening deeply? Many have communicated that being a spiritual director can be a lonely and isolating experience.

We long to be in community and growing in our capacity and ability to host others, but where do we find such a space? There is a gift to learning together and experiencing group supervision. It doesn’t necessarily negate the gift of individual supervision but offers a space to learn from one another through each director’s experience of hosting others.

We would like to invite you to join us as we gather for 2-hours each month. We will start with a 30-minute continuing education conversation and then move into small groups for supervision. Each of our groups will be facilitated by a trained spiritual direction supervisor. Our supervisors have all been trained in the contemplative, compassionate, and evocative approach to spiritual direction and supervision.

Our small groups will consist of four directors; two will present whatever they would like to hold in the group for supervision each month. Each director will be able to present twice.

Your Guides

Lynn Holt

Lynn “companioned” people for over two decades as a Quaker pastor, educator, spiritual director and supervisor. As a mentor and a supervisor, her passion is to prepare and support soul companions in their early and ongoing formation as they seek to live out their call to accompany others.

Our capacity to accompany and bear witness to pain and suffering, as we hold hope and joy, invites story-sharing, deep questions, embodied reflection, and compassionate listening. In the dynamic relationship of divine Presence and Love, a path to healing and wholeness becomes a conduit for faithful action and repair in the world. This is at the center of our work as spiritual directors.

Lynn is a co-founder of the Companioning Center, a contemplative spiritual formation and training center for soul companions and spiritual directors based in the Quaker tradition of deep listening, waiting-silence, and discernment that supports faithful action and presence in the world. A Recorded Minister among Friends, she has an MDiv from Portland Seminary and Certificates from the Mercy Center in Burlingame, CA, and Shalem Institute.

Sharon Leerar

Alongside Sharon’s work as a spiritual director and supervisor, she brings experience and expertise from her work as a teacher, restorative circle facilitator, and cognitive coach. She enjoys hosting and facilitating spaces where learning is shared and where participants embrace that we are all beginners and have wisdom to share.

Sharon’s personal journey has been marked by significant challenges, including breast cancer and donating a kidney to her son. Those experiences helped her lean into the gift of embracing both the highs and lows of life with an appreciation of Mystery and a deepening awareness of God’s faithfulness.

Her spiritual direction training was in West Michigan at the Dominican Center. Further training for accompanying children and supervision was at the Companioning Center.

You can find Sharon at directionwithsharon.com or email her at directionwithsharon@gmail.com.
