Group Spiritual Direction is a practice that allows a small group to hold space for each other through the modeling and hosting of a trained spiritual director. Participants in these kinds of groups may show up and hold others in a brave and sacred space. Many are seeking communities of being for deep questions and deep conversations to integrate their experience and longing for connection.
In this course, we will learn about and experience the gift of group spiritual direction in our own small groups. In the process, we will begin to imagine and implement adding this important offering in our own practices. We will explore different models of hosting groups so that you will be able to discover what feels true for your practice.

Topics Covered:

  • Various models such as Contemplative, Lectio Divina, and Discernment
  • Adding this ministry to your practice
  • Inviting Participants
  • Creating a Group Covenant
  • Openings and Closing
  • Offering a Sacred Group Space
Prerequisite: Participants either need to have completed a Spiritual Direction Training Program or be in their final year of training.

Kathi Gatlin founded Boldly Loved and co-founded the Companioning Center to bring together her two greatest passions: spiritual formation and teaching. In this, she utilizes her DMin. in Leadership and Spiritual Formation from Portland Seminary and her M.Ed. earned through George Fox University.

Her greatest joy is walking alongside others, individually and in groups, in their own spiritual journey, sharing ways of understanding God anew through contemplative prayer and teaching, and to see them grow in the depth of their own understanding of who God is and who they are in relationship with God.
